Romance on Ice
It was a freezing morning after the whole week of frost at night. Finally the waters around the famous Kinderwijk windmill froze and the first people ventured on the ice. Yes, there were cracking sounds, but the ice held well. More and more people entered the ice and the morning slowly started to turn into a cozy ice skating paradise.
These scenes are rare these days, as the waters barely freeze anymore. I still remember when I was a kid: I would ice skate every winter with my friends on the little streams around the house. Even those barely freeze any more. The winters are getting warmer and ice skating is getting increasingly more rare.
But sometimes, it does happen. Like in this photo, on this painty December morning. Only this morning the ice was strong enough. The next day was already much warmer, with the ice, and photo opportunities, gone until who knows.
